In an effort to reduce their monthly bills, many people have been searching for ways to reduce their electricity bills. Electric bills are often the highest bill in a home after the mortgage or rent is paid. With prices continuing to rise in all areas of the economy, it is beneficial to all to learn how to reduce the amount of electricity being used in the home. Many companies such as some found here at .

Simple Tricks To Cut Electricity Consumption:

Add A Fan. While this may seem contradictory to cutting electrical use by adding an electric appliance, it is one of the best ways that you can save money during the summer. A majority of each monthly electric bill is a direct result of heating or air conditioning. If you increase the temperature on your thermostat and add a fan to the room, you will reduce consumption. Only run the fan while in the room. The added airflow will offset any discomfort from the increased temperature.

Unplug. Does your microwave really need to have that blinking clock going all the time? Appliances with light up displays are continually draining power. If you are not using it – unplug it. This also includes your phone charger. Leaving it plugged in all the time allows the charger to keep pulling power from the outlet even if it is not charging anything.

Have Your Air Ducts Checked. A lot of time your air conditioner is cooling off your crawlspace more than it is cooling off the interior of your home. If your system is more than five years old, you should have your duct work checked. Many electric companies have incentives for their clients to have this done. Check your electric company website to find many energy saving offers and discounts that are only available through their site.

Of course, there are always little things that you can do that will also make a difference. Change your light bulbs to a lower wattage and make sure to always turn off the lights when you leave a room. Turn off anything that you are not using at the time, including your computer. Check doors and windows for areas where air may be escaping and weather strip where necessary.

The most important thing that you can remember is that every effort that you make to reduce your power consumption will have a positive effect on your electric bill.
